ORMSKIRK v BARNOLDSWICK 10/6/18

Lancashire Knockout Cup Round 2

Barnoldswick won the toss and elected to bat.

With only 5 runs on the board they lost their first wicket of opening batsman Amir Saddique (2) when he was caught behind off the bowling of Ryan Maddock.

From then on it was all downhill for Barnoldswick as wickets tumbled. The Ormskirk bowlers took total control and shared the wickets between them to see the visitors bowled out in 26 overs for just 83 runs.

Only two wickets were lost by Ormskirk, Andy Baybutt (8) and Ian Robinson (17) as they quickly chased down the runs in 14 overs.

George Lavelle (27*) and Gary Knight (21*) were there at the end to complete a comprehensive 8 wicket victory.

Notwithstanding that it was an easy victory it was, nevertheless, a disappointing game in so much as it was too easy. The result was inevitable from the moment Barnoldswick were bowled out for such a small total and for many that spoilt the afternoon.

The 3rd Round is another home tie, to be played on 22nd July, when the visitors are Roe Green CC from the Greater Manchester Premier League. It will be a much tougher game.
