Introductory Letter to Parents/Carers and Guardians 2024

ORMSKIRK CRICKET CLUB

Welcome: On behalf of Ormskirk Cricket Club we would like to welcome your child to the club and provide you with some information about the cricket activities we offer.  Ormskirk Cricket Club provides opportunities for young people between the ages of 4 and 18 to receive coaching and compete in the Liverpool & District Cricket League.

Clubmark: We are a Clubmark club and adhere to the ‘Safe Hands’ Policy for Safeguarding Children in Cricket. All of the adults who work at the Club and meet the necessary criteria have been vetted by the ECB. This includes the enhanced DBS and ‘Barred List’ check (formerly known as CRB checks).

Training: We welcome parents and carers or guardians to all training and competitions and value your support. Below is some information about training times and dates, and details regarding travel arrangements and membership. If you have any questions about training please approach the coach in the first instance BUT please do not do so during training as this may distract the coach when he/she needs to be supervising.

Training sessions – all of which take place at Brook Lane – are as follows:

  • All Stars: Fridays from 10th May for 10 weeks

  • Under 9s: Fridays from 19th April to 12th July

  • Under 11s: Fridays from 19th April to 12th July

  • Under 13s: Fridays from 19th April to 12th July

  • Under 15s: Mondays from 15th April 6.30 – 8pm

  • Under 18s: Tuesdays & Thursdays – 6.00–8.30pm from 16th April (check Twitter/X for any change)

 

Friday Training: Please note that each Friday, the bar will be open for the service of drinks both inside and out, with food available from the Club caterers – Square Leg. In the event of bad weather please check the club website. – www.ormskirkcc.co.uk - or the club’s Twitter feed @Ormskirk_CC in the first instance. We will also try to email or text. PLEASE TAKE CARE when driving/parking near the club at all times. Children do not always concentrate as they should.

Social Membership:

The Club is dependent on the support of its members and in recent years significant and costly improvements have been made.. For £60 you can become a social member which will not only show your support for the Club but also entitle you to a membership card you can use and top up online or at the bar to purchase alcoholic drinks with a 10% discount all year round. Forms are available at Registration and online. 

Travel: It is the responsibility of parents/carers to make arrangements for travel to and from training sessions and matches. If you are going to be late picking your child up from a match, please contact the team manager to let him/her know.

Fees:

The club has membership fees of £65 for U9s, £70 for the U11s and 13s and £75 for U15/18s and these should be paid online but if not, by 19th April 2024.

Team Managers & Assistance: The managers’ details and match dates for all teams can be found in the fixtures booklet, on the club website and online at the link below (see matches). The Cricket Club is dependent upon volunteers and welcomes all offers of help. If you are interested in helping in any way, please contact Scott Meredith on the number below to get an idea of what is involved. Selection for matches is made by the team managers and we ask that you read the 2024 Junior Policy for more information on this.                                    

Matches:

Currently matchdays are: U9s – Sundays; U11s – Mondays; U13s – Thursdays; U15s – Wednesdays; U18s – Mondays/Tuesdays. Fixtures can change. The easiest means of checking the fixtures for the U11s – 18s as well as finding the details of away clubs is to go online to http://ormskirk.play-cricket.com

Welfare:

If you have any concern about your child or another child, or about the behaviour of any adult at the club, please speak to Rachel Rankin (the Club Welfare officer. If your concern is about Rachel  you may contact the County Welfare Officer Mike Buckley (07710 421231 -  lcbwelfareofficer@gmail.com).
