Membership Subscriptions via GoCardless - Upcoming Change

We hope you are well, and we certainly hope you are looking forward to another great season at Ormskirk Cricket Club – the National Champions of 2025.
The purpose of this email is to inform you of an upcoming change as to how membership subscriptions will be collected this year and going forwards.
To help make things simpler for members and to reduce administration for the Club, we will be collecting membership subscriptions via GoCardless - the same secure system we currently use for monthly lottery payments.
Why We Are Doing This
As a volunteer-run club, a significant amount of time each year is spent chasing membership payments, issuing reminders and reconciling varying different methods of payment. Moving membership subscriptions to GoCardless allows us to simplify this process considerably.
This change will:
Reduce administration time for volunteers, allowing us to focus more on cricket and club development rather than paperwork; Ensure fairness and consistency, with all members paying subscriptions in the same structured way; Provide clarity for members, with advance notice of payment each year; Improve cashflow certainty at the start of the season, helping the Club plan and budget responsibly.
GoCardless is already used successfully for our Club lottery payments, and many members are familiar with the system which has been in place since 2017. Using the same secure platform for membership subscriptions creates a straightforward and reliable process for everyone.
Most importantly, this approach helps ensure that membership income - which is vital to maintaining our facilities, supporting teams, and investing in the future of the Club - is collected efficiently each year.
How It Will Work – This Year
Following the Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Committee have confirmed that the membership subscription rates have remained the same for the coming year;
All members will then receive a secure link to set up their membership subscription payment (see below); Completing the form will also create a Direct Debit mandate via GoCardless; Your annual membership subscription will then be collected on 1 May 2026.
Membership Subscriptions – Future Years
Once you are set up on GoCardless, your Direct Debit mandate will remain in place, and the process will be the same each year. As follows:
Following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year, the Committee will confirm the membership subscription rates for that year;We will adjust the amount to reflect the correct membership subscription (if necessary) for your membership category;Your annual subscription payment will then be collected automatically on 1 May each year.
You will not need to re-register or complete any additional forms in future years - your existing GoCardless mandate will remain in place unless you cancel it.
We will always communicate the subscription rates and confirm the collection amount in advance, so members are fully informed before any payment is taken.
Next Steps
Now that the AGM has taken place, we can now provide you with the secure links to set up your membership payment via GoCardless.
Please select the link below that corresponds to your membership category and complete the short online form. This will create your Direct Debit mandate for the 2026 season.
This process must be completed once for each individual member. For example, if you are signing up for both yourself and a partner, the form will need to be completed separately for each person.
Once set up, your membership subscription will be collected automatically, and no further action will be required in future years unless your membership details change.
Please may we ask that this is actioned by 17 April 2026 so that we can ensure that if anyone is having any issues, these can be resolved by 1 May 2026 and ahead of the payment being taken.
Thank you for your continued support - it makes a huge difference to the running of the Club and helps us maintain our facilities, coaching, and community activities for all members. We hope you support us with this change but if anyone has any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Scott Lees or Andy Brown by return of this email.
Take care and we hope to see you down at Brook Lane soon.
Kind regards
Scott Lees
