3rds win the Embee Trophy
Finals day started with the semi final v Northern. After winning the toss and electing to bat we lost the early wicket of Sam Hepke for 1. Cheung with a quick fire 26, then helped push the total up but we lost wickets regularly. Ed Brown continued his good form with a fine knock of 55 not out including 5 fours and 2 sixes leading us to an imposing total of 161-8. The Northern inning started well for the blue and gold with both openers dismissed early, leaving the opposition 23-3. Northern tried to fight back but Ormskirk's bowling was too strong, restricting Northern to 112-7 of the 20 overs. scorecard The final New Brighton won the toss and elected to bat. Colin Inkson struck early with the key wicket of Watkins (caught by R.Jones). New Brighton started to build a healthy total but Nathan Hepke and Ed Brown then took 2 wickets each. Sam Hepke displayed superb catching in the deep with keeper George Politis behind the stumps leaving them 85-5. Hannah Mansell was on a hat trick but the hat trick ball ended in a wide! Her figures were 4 overs 2-21. It was really good to have Hannah back after 6 weeks out with a broken collar bone. Ed Brown finished with figures of 4 overs 3-28 . The Ormskirk inning started well with a opening stand of 71 between R Jones (20) and Sam Hepke (42). Sam was eventually dismissed for 44 - a great knock in a tough situation. As the pressure grew, Nathan Hepke looked the most composed man in the ground and looked to be pushing Ormskirk over the line. He was eventually bowled for 20 leaving 6 off 11 to win.
